Enrichment
School Trips
Each term we arrange a trip that ties in with our learning topic. In this digital age, it is a great opportunity for children to get out and about for a tactile, fun learning experience accompanied by teachers and parents. Outings may include Bockett’s farm, the Science Museum, the Wetlands Centre, the Transport Museum, Battersea Park Zoo, Holland Park Ecology Centre or a play at a local theatre. During the year the teachers may take their groups on a local outing to learn about their immediate environment.
My Special Day
Each child is given a day when their parents join them in the morning, bringing a special photo board they have created of meaningful people in their child’s life along with a letter they have written to say why their child is special. This is read aloud to their child. The child’s favourite toy is brought in to show their friends as well as their favourite snack to share. Many of our children keep their boards for years to come.
Sports Day
This is a highlight in our calendar year. Parents, teachers and children gather on Parsons Green for our Sports Day. Plenty of stickers and medals are awarded for egg and spoon races, sack races, beanbag balancing races and let’s not forget the races with Mummy or Daddy. The morning is rounded off with a shared picnic on the green.
Daddy’s Day
Every term we have a Daddy’s day where our Dads can join us after drop off for 45 minutes to participate in one of our themed activities such as experiments or space. The children absolutely love having their Daddies at school with them.
Mummy’s Stay and Play
We invite our mothers for a stay and play – a special time for our children to show their nursery environment and their friends to their mummies.
School Shows
At Christmas all our older children participate in the annual traditional Nativity play with the younger children joining in with the singing. We are continually astounded at what such young children are able to deliver. This is a great extended family and school community occasion. The morning concludes with a lovely picnic lunch at school and a visit from Father Christmas.
At the end of each term, parents are invited to the end of term show where our older children recite poems and all children perform songs and a short story play.
At Easter, we have our Easter bonnet parade where parents join us for an Easter themed picnic and our annual puppet show.
Charitable Support
We like to instil charitable values in our children. Every year we involve our children in Operation Christmas where shoeboxes are filled with small gifts, wrapped to give to children who will have no presents for Christmas otherwise.
Every term we choose a charity to support through doing a sponsored activity with a dressing up theme. Charities that have benefited in the past have been Red Nose Day, Whizzkids, Happy Days, NSBCC and Great Ormond Street.
