Our History
In 1982, originally in South Kensington, Su Gahan MBE (Miss Su) and Tessa Hardingham (now a play therapist based in Putney), saw a need in the area for a nursery school to support families as they navigated the early years. They were inspired to provide an excellent, creative educational program where everyone would feel welcome. Thus, in 1982, Zebedee Nursery School was founded.
Ten years later, an opportunity arose to move to a different site with access to the next door church garden in leafy Parsons Green, where it has been based for the last 30 plus years with Miss Su still firmly at the helm.
This wealth of experience is what makes Zebedee unique. Whilst constantly adapting to any new and exciting educational tools, training or extracurricular activities on offer, Zebedee still retains its educational foundations and well developed curriculum and experience in child psychology.
The fact that Zebedee is self-owned means that we can truly make the child, not profit margins, the focus.
The greatest compliment is welcoming a new generation of children whose mummy or daddy themselves used to be little pupils back in the day.
“ There is simply nowhere else you can send your child where a 40 years time served, vastly experienced and compassionate founder gets to know your child personally and oversees their development for the duration of their time at the nursery. “
